  • I am building a raised garden bed. If I need soil 24 inches thick and the bed is 8'x12', how many totes would I need and how do I figure the calculation if I need a different dimension?
First, you would need to find the cubic footage of soil that you need by multiplying Length x Width x Height (all units in feet). For your bed, you would need 8' x 12' x 2' feet = 192 cubic feet. Then, you would divide by 30 since there are 30 cubic feet in a tote. This means that you need about 6.4 totes to fill that area. Thanks!

  • How many square feet are in your Screened Topsoil Mega-Tote?
Each tote contains 30 CUBIC feet.... the actual square footage depends on how thick you spread the soil... For example, at 1" inch thick, the tote will cover 360 square feet. At 1/4" inch, it will cover 1440 feet.

  • How much top soil do I need to cover 800 square feet to make sure the new sod will take. Our lovely home has clay and bad soil.
We recommend that you have a good 3-4" inches of topsoil for best results. Thanks!
