Ask a Question

  • How much shade can kentucky blue grass handle vs black beauty?
The Kentucky Bluegrass needs at least 6-8 hours of full sun whereas the Black Beauty needs at least 4 - 6. Thanks!

  • What is the mixture of your fescue sod. Is it all fescue? Is it one or multiple varieties of fescue?
It is comprised of three different Tall Fescue cultivars and one cultivar of bluegrass. It is 90% Fescue and 10% Bluegrass. Thanks!

  • What sod is the best for a yard with 60Percent shade..
We would recommend the Black Beauty for this application. Tall Fescue has a higher shade tolerance compared to Kentucky Bluegrass. Thanks!

  • Online it states that your Tall Fescue is out of stock. When will you have more?
We plan to have our current crop of Black Beauty ready in early May 2015. Thanks!

  • Is it too early to sod in May? Can it get to cold and would that affect anything? Thanks, Mike
May is a great time to sod.... It will only take about 2 weeks for the grass to fully root this time of year, and the cold will not affect Black Beauty or Kentucky Bluegrass.

  • How to apply roundup before sodding?
Just follow the instructions on the roundup label... Make sure you do not use the "extended control" version as it will interfere with the sod taking root.

  • Do you guys have sod available year round? And do you deliver small amounts like 4-5 square feet?
Our Illinois locations will shut down for several months during the winter because the frozen ground prevents us from harvesting. Give our office a call at (800) 310-0402 for more info regarding delivery. Thanks!
